East Valley art walks offer entertaining evenings with family or friends

Art imitates life, or is it life imitates art? For the East Valley’s growing art scene, it’s an understatement. Filled with culture and community, only true artists could paint a prettier picture. East Valley art walks bring forth unique treasures and pleasures. From jewelry and accessories to photography and glass art, there is something for all artistic palates. If you’ve been to one, you have not been to all. Each event features a mixture of seasoned and novice artists showcasing a variety of one-of-a-kind treasures.

Come for the art, stay for the grub, and perhaps even more. Boasting more than 70 artists directly representing their fine arts and crafts, the Downtown Chandler Art Walk continues to grow in popularity. Art enthusiasts have full access to connect with the masterminds behind the masterpieces, in an area surrounded by local eateries, pubs, wine bars and more. “We wanted to create a regular event for the community as well as help and support local merchants,” said Marnie Brookins, special events coordinator. “We definitely work together to build business and promote the event.” Date night, girls night out or family fun night, the Downtown Chandler Art Walk makes it a night to remember.

Gilbert Art Walk

New to the art scene, the Gilbert Art Walk invites locals and visitors to enjoy a fun-filled evening with a small-town feel. “The goal is to help bring art as a focus and a cultural hub in Gilbert,” says George Lenz, owner of AZ Art Promotions and sponsor of the monthly event. Focusing on visual arts as well as performing arts, the Gilbert Art Walk has a mix of national and local talent. “We have artists from Texas, New Mexico and other states that come out to display their art,” says Lenz. “We also add a home-town focus by partnering with local charities and getting the community involved.” Parents can make it a sitter-free evening and bring the kids to enjoy live music, face-painting and caricature artists.
